By maintaining the some of current methods of architectural practice we have to bring about a change in the clients perspective. Let us govern our designs. Opportunities: With the natural resources dwindling as in the case of U.A.E the countries are focusing on attracting large number of tourists. This requires an attractive built environment . These countries are an architect’s playgrounds. Since the lifestyles of people are changing with the advancement in technology the requirement for designed spaces is increasing. Theme parks, resorts, land reclamation is more than what was in the past 10 years. Demands: The focus is more on the current output and profit of companies rather than the long-term benefits in social & cultural context. Key challenges: The pertinent question is that if the present requirement of our clients is only towards their economical growth only then how can we architects play our role to fulfill other aspects of our profession namely social & cultural aspect, issues such as global warming? Issues which although do not directly affect the requirements of the clients but in the long run will cause a drastic change to the human race as well as the natural resources. Architecture affects the psychology of people & certain clients manipulate this trait of humans. Should architects join this rat race? The answer is definitely no! This means that our basic training must lack the vision required for entering into the 21st century. Mission statement: By maintaining the some of current methods of architectural practice we have to bring about a change in the clients perspective. Let us govern our designs. Action plan: · -Introduce more courses related to human psychology & client management. - Use technologies such as BIM to enhance our designs only. -The architect must be involved till the completion of the building & after it as well.
